0011 Development and subdivision of land

This worksection consists of five sections- Introduction, Application Process, Council requirements, Engineering requirements necessary to progressively taking the decision to subdivide and develop land to the stage where land allotments can be sold. This worksection also provides an introduction to other documentation prepared to manage development/subdivision matters.

0012 Waterfront development

This worksection consists of the design of waterway facilities and structures for canal type subdivision. It provides requirements related to developments that include wat frontage to natural waterways or include the development of articial waterways. The requriements set out in this worksection are to be considered supplementary to teh requirements of Council.

0013 Bushfire protection

This worksection is applicable to the design of bushfire protection facilities.

0021 Site regrading

This worksection sets out requirements for site regrading involved in Council works and in Council land development and subdivision. Conceptual requirements are presented as necessary considerations when preparing designs for site regrading.

0041 Geometric road layout

This worksection sets out a method for the geometric layout design of Council's roadworks, using principles of street design to ensure safety, improved amenity and to reduce pedestrian/vehicular conflicts. This worksection applies to minor roads. For major highways refer to the relevant State roads authority.

0042 Pavement design

This worksection contains procedures for the design of the following forms of pavement construction: flexible pavements consisting of unbound granular materials, flexible pavements that contain one or more bound layers, including pavements containing asphalt layers other than thin asphalt wearing surfaces, rigid pavements (i.e. cement concrete pavements) and concrete or clay segmental pavements.

0043 Subsurface drainage (Design)

This worksection is applicable to the design and documentation of subsurface drainage. This worksection covers the design of the subsurface drainage system for the road pavement and/or subgrade. This worksection contains procedures for the design of subsurface drainage, including subsoil and foundation drains, sub-pavement drains and drainage mats, including Type A and Type B mats.

0044 Pathways and cycleways

This worksection sets out requirements for the design of various types of cycleways and pathways. This worksection serves as a companion document to the AUSTROADS Guide extended to incorporate basic requirements for pathways.

0061 Bridges and other structures

This worksection sets out design of structural engineering elements for works including road traffic bridges, pedestrain bridges, structures other than bridges associated with road e.g. major culverts, arches, retaining walls, earth retaining structures and major sign support structures, small earth dams and detention basins, structures used for public safety, road safety barriers, pedestrian safety rails, street lighting, temporary works. Structures may be of concrete, timber or steel constructions and emphasis is placed on low maintainance.

0071 Water supply - reticulation and pump stations (Design)

This worksection contains procedures for the design of water reticulation systems, including pump stations, either as a stand-alone project or part of a development.

0074 Stormwater drainage (Design)

The worksection sets out the design of stormwater drainage systems for urban and rural areas.

0075 Control of erosion and stormwater management

This worksection aims to limit/minimise the amount of site disturbance, also, to isolate the site by diverting clean upstream run-on water around or through the site where possible, control runoff and sediment movement at its point source rather than at one final point, stage earthworks and progressively revegetate the site where possible to reduce the area contributing sediment, provide an effective major stormwater system economical in terms of capital, operational and maintenance costs, incorporating water quality controls and to retain topsoil for effective revegetation works and locate sediment control structures where they are most effective and efficient.

0076 Sewerage systems - reticulation and pump stations (Design)

This worksection consists of the design of a sewerage system either as a stand-alone project or part of a development. The worksection contains procedures for the design of the elements of the sewerage system including gravity sewers, junctions, property connection sewers, common effluent sewers both gravity and pressurised, vacuum sewer systems, maintenance holes and other structures such as maintenance shafts and the like, rising mains and pump stations.

0120 Information for tenders (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection outlines the information required for tenders such as documents required, tendering method, site inspection and tendering lodgement requirements.

0121 Tendering

This worksection Template reflects the principles of the main Australian codes of practice, including AS 4120 Code of tendering which is cited in a number of state governments codes of practice. The worksection assumes head-contract tendering. It is applicable to non-contractual material and so does not form part of the contract documents.

0121 Conditions of tendering (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection applies to traditional paper-based methods of tendering. Similar principles apply for eTendering, but production techniques are adapted to suit the digital means of distribution. Consult with the administrators of eTendering system about the standard forms they provide as part of the system and about amending these to suit your requirements.

0123 Tender submission documents (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection outlines the tender submission documents required for the contract such as a tender forms and declarations. Tenderer can choose the forms as appropriate to the project.

0130 Contract preparation model (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection is a model for contract preparation. The annexures consists of sample contracts which enables the specifier to complie documentation required fro a contract.

0131 Preliminaries (Generic)

This worksection Template is applicable to the site requirements of the owner and allows for the selection of a contract. 0133 Preliminaries (Generic Interior and alterations)

This worksection Template is applicable to the site requirements of the owner for interior fitout projects and allows for the selection of a contract. The project specific version may include site security arrangements, occupancy constraints, adjoining properties constraints, project signage, provisional sums, requirements for progress photographs, authority requirements, owner-supplied items, separate contracts, and some aspects of cost adjustment.

0138 Multiple contracts

This worksection Template is applicable to projects to be let as several prime contract packages, also known as separate contracts and trade package contracts. It deals with the interfaces between the contracts and provides a framework for scheduling the boundaries of responsibility between the contractor and the principal or other contractors, on behalf of the principal.

This worksection is for supply and deliver contracts. It deals with schedule of rates, bills of quantities and schedules of contractors materials and labour.

0154 Contract schedules for parks and recreation areas

This worksection outlines the contract schedules for parks and recreation areas, bills of quantities and shedules of dayworks rates.

0155 Contract shcedules for building and facilities

This worksection outline the contract schedules for buildings and facilities, bill of quantities and achedule of daywork rates.

0156 Contract schedules for road reserves

This worksection outlines the contract schedules for road reserves, bill of quantities and schedules daywork rates.

0160 Quality (Design) (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection sets out the process for quality assurance of designs required by council for engineering works. The requirements are applicable to all design work whether undertaken by Designers within the Council, a Consultant or a Sub-consultant.

0161 Quality (Construction) (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection covers the contractual requirements for the quailty system documentation and operation.

0162 Supply quality plan (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection covers the quailty requirements for delivery documentation of a quality assured product where the producer has third party certification of an implemented quality system complying with AS/NZA ISO 9001.

0162 Quality

This worksection Template applies to the selection and implementation of quality system procedures based on AS/NZS ISO 9001 . It includes the submission of a quality management system.

0163 Contractors quality plan

This worksection covers the quality requirements for delivery of products for acceptance by the principal in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 9001. It includes handling, storage, packaging, preservation and delivery.

0164 Parks and recreation areas management plan

The park maintenance plan provides the principal with information regarding day to day execution of the maintenance works and the ways in which the tenderer proposes to record and report information to the superintendent. Part 1 describes the broad scope of the contract management requirements. Part 2 comprises of park maintenance plan specification and a series of documents to be completed and submitted to the superintendent over the duration of the contract.

0165 Buildings and facilities maintenance plan

The building and facilities maintenance plan provides the principal with information regarding day to day execution of the maintenance works and the ways in which the tenderer proposes to record and report information to the superintendent. Part 1 describes the broad scope of the contract management requirements. Part 2 comprises of building and facilities maintenance plan specification and a series of documents to be completed and submitted to the superintendent over the duration of the contract.

0166 Road reserve management plan requirements

This worksection sets out the requirements for the maintenance management plan to be provided by the contractor.

0167 Integrated management (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection is applicable to the documentation and operation of a system that collects the operating procedures of occupational health and safety, environmental requiremens and quality requirements into a single management system. The worksection addresses the contractor.

0168 Green star - as built submissions

This worksection Template, as part of a building contract, is directed to the contractor. It gathers together the administrative submissions required to be made by the contractor, to the principal, for inclusion in a submission to the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) for assessment under a particular environmental sustainability rating tool. It specifies the submissions that need to be made, not the actual work, which is covered in the relevant specification worksections.

0169 Green star - office as built submissions

This worksection Template, as part of a building contract, is directed to the contractor. It gathers together the administrative submissions required to be made by the contractor, to the principal, for inclusion in a submission to the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) for assessment under the Green Star - Office As Built rating tool. It specifies the submissions that need to be made, not the actual work, which is still covered in the relevant specification worksections. The GBCA requirements are included for each relevant NATSPEC worksection.

0171 General requirements

This worksection draws together administrative material which is common to most if not all of the technical worksections for new work, interiors and for alterations and additions. This worksection should therefore be brought to the attention of subcontractors and others using that material. Each technical worksection includes a cross reference to that effect. 0171 General requirements cover topics such as referenced documents, interpretation, inspection and tests, samples and contractor's submissions, materials and components, installation, marking and completion.

The project specification for this worksection may describe acceptable forms of warranty, notice required for inspections, and acceptable testing authorities. It will also define the relationship between the complete project specification and the drawings. The worksection should be read in the context of the general conditions of contract, any special conditions of contract, the project preliminaries, and any separately specified quality assurance requirements.

0176 Technical specification for supply (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection deals with the supply of labour, materials and plant to carry out the works under contract.

0177 Technical specification for service (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection deals with the supply of labour, materials and equipment necessary to carry out the services specified under a contract.

0179 General requirements (Construction) (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection sets out the quality system or qulity control, set out of works, work as executed drawings, environmental protection, site facilities, meetings, suply by Principal, utilities and authorities requirements and project specific requirements.

0181 Adhesives, sealants and fasteners

This worksection Template incorporates the commonly used adhesives, sealants and fasteners and provides basic defaults. It is applicable to projects that require adhesives, sealants and fasteners as part of general construction.

0181 SIKA adhesives and sealants with fasteners

This worksection Template incorporates the commonly used adhesives, sealants and fasteners and provides basic defaults. It is applicable to projects that require adhesives, sealants and fasteners as part of general construction.

0182 Fire-stopping

This worksection Template is applicable to the requirements for fire-stopping which flow from the deemed-to-satisfy BCA C3.15 (Fire protection of openings for service installations) and BCA C3.16 (Fire protection of construction joints).

0183 Metals and prefinishes

This worksection Template is applicable to aluminium and aluminium alloys, steel, coated steel and stainless steel, copper and copper alloys, brazing, welding, electroplating, anodising, metal spraying and prepainting. It identifies relevant standards for metal alloys and forms, and for prefinishing, selecting default grades in some instances for the most commonly used metals and a variety of shop finishes. There are many relevant standards, but none are central.

0184 Termite management

This worksection Template is applicable to various chemical and non-chemical systems which may be used, alone or in combination, to provide termite management. They need to be integrated to be effective and so are located together. They may impact on 0222 Earthwork , 0314 Concrete in situ , 0331 Brick and block construction, and so on. The core standard is AS 3660.1 (Termite management – New building work), cited in the BCA.

0185 Timber products, finishes and treatment

This worksection Template is applicable to the certification, durability and quality conformance of timber products. It includes preservative treatments to the AS 1604 series, moisture content and fire rating. State legislation will override some of the provisions of this worksection.

0186 Building IT components

This worksection Template is applicable to the provision of the various components and elements which make up building services IT systems. For more information on the use of this and related worksections see NATSPEC NTN DES 012 .

0191 Sundry items

This worksection Template is applicable to building components that may not obviously belong to a particular worksection, or, alternatively, could reasonably belong to a number of worksections. They are generally small scale proprietary components made from a range of materials, and can be installed in a range of interior or exterior locations. Custom-made items are better located in the appropriate worksection, e.g. 0552 Metalwork for predominantly metal items, or items to be made by a metal fabricator.

0192 ANCON structural steel components

This worksection Template is applicable to ANCON structural steel components manufactured by Ancon Building Products consisting of proprietary suites supplied as complete systems, and including the following: Masonry support, windposts and lintels, wall ties and restraint fixings, channel and bolt fixings, tension systems, flooring and formed sections, shear load connectors, stainless steel reinforcement, reinforcing bar couplers, reinforcement continuity systems, punching shear reinforcement, steelwork fixings for structural and secondary steelwork, cavity fixings for fixings to hollow section steel, and support systems for building services suspension.

This branded worksection Template is applicable to the supply, installation and maintenance of the LATCHWAYS' Constant Force® ManSafe fall protection system by Eurosafe Solutions®.

0193 Roof access safety systens

This worksection Template is applicable to the supply, installation and maintenance of a roof access safety system.

0194 RAVEN door seals and window seals

This worksection Template is applicable to door and window seals against a combination of leakages and intrusions without impeding normal use. It should read in conjunction with a separate 'door by door' hardware specification or schedule, prepared for the project to your office documentation policy. The 'door by door' specification may be provided by a nominated architectural door hardware supplier This worksection sets out the seal parameters that should be called up for such a 'door by door' specification.

0201 Demolition

This worksection Template is applicable to demolition of existing buildings, structures and services. It includes planning and execution of the work, protection and support of adjacent structures and removal of demolished material.

0202 Demolition (Interior and alterations)

This worksection Template is applicable to the demolition and removal of internal building elements and services from within an existing building.

0221 Site management

This worksection Template is applicable to the environmental management of the building site and includes general environmental controls, heritage and cultural issues, materials extraction and approvals and clearing and the retention of trees. It offers two alternatives for management control together with actions and follow up monitoring of environmental issues: The preparation of management plans by the contractor; and The management and control measures documented by the consultant.

0222 Earthwork

This worksection Template contains technical content which must be customised by a professional engineer for inclusion in a project specification. It is applicable to topsoil removal, excavation, filling and compaction as required for building operations.

0223 Service trenching

This worksection Template is applicable to trenching for underground services within a building site and contains technical content which must be customised by a professional engineer for inclusion in a project specification.

0224 Stormwater - site

This worksection Template is applicable to stormwater drainage principally associated with pavements.This template overlaps with Stormwater - buildings which should be used for internal stormwater piping for roof water and for simple external systems. Both may be used on a project according to the division of professional and/or contracting responsibility.

0241 Landscape - walling and edging

This worksection Template is applicable to retaining and free standing walls subject to height criteria conforming with local authority requirements.

0242 Landscape - fences and barriers

This worksection Template is applicable to basic fencing including picket and paling (plain paling and lap and cap) fencing, generally for domestic use; chainwire and welded mesh fencing for industrial, commercial and institutional use.

0243 Landscape - water features

This worksection Template is applicable to water features as part of landscape works.

0250 Landscape - gardening

This worksection Template is applicable to simple 'soft' landscaping. It has been prepared for and is suitable only for work of a scale or size which does not warrant the use of separate worksections for each of the different aspects of landscaping work. As such, it combines relevant clauses from the stand alone landscape worksections as follows: 0221 Site management, 0222 Earthwork, 0251 Landscape - soils, 0252 Landscape - soft surfaces, 0253 Landscape - planting, 0255 Landscape - plant procurement, and 0256 Landscape - establishment.

0251 Landscape - soils

This worksection Template is applicable to soils for landscaping including, rock work, filling, topsoil, topsoil additives, compost and mulch. Geotechnical site investigation and soil related earthworks are also covered.

0252 Landscape - soft surfaces

This worksection Template is applicable to grass seeding, hydroseeding and hydromulching, turfing, stolonising and temporary grassing.

0253 Landscape - planting

This worksection Template is applicable to composts, fertilisers, binders, mulching, planting, insect spraying, tree pruning and anchorage and is principally concerned with so-called 'softworks'.

0254 Irrigation

This worksection Template is applicable to automatically controlled fixed watering systems.

0255 Landscape - plant procurement

This worksection Template has been expanded to include shrubs and ground cover as well as trees. It is structured to allow for the supply of plant material as a separate early contract or as part of the head contract.

0256 Landscape - establishment

This worksection Template is applicable to landscape establishment and maintenance for the period between the date of practical completion and the date of final completion under the head contract.

0257 Landscape - roadworks and street trees (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection is concerned with soft landscaping works, and is applicable to the vegetation of cut and fill batters, pathway verges, median areas and open drains, surface preparation, topsoiling, fertilising and turfing or sowing seed, and may include surface protection works, hydroseeding, hydromulching and straw mulching, the supply of plants and the planting, fertilising, mulching, staking, watering and maintenance of plants including street trees.

0261 Landscape - furniture and fixtures

This worksection Template is applicable to the supply and installation of proprietary items associated with landscape works, including shade structures.

0271 Pavement base and subbase

This worksection Template contains technical content which must be customised by a professional engineer for inclusion in a project specification.

0272 Asphaltic concrete

This worksection Template is applicable to the supply and laying of asphalt for ancillary areas not forming public roadways. For general guidance on asphalt paving refer to AS 2150.

0273 Sprayed bituminous surfacing

This worksection Template is applicable to bituminous sprayed surfacing including priming, primer sealing and resealing of ancillary areas not forming public roadways.

0274 Concrete pavement

This worksection Template is applicable to the supply and placement of concrete for concrete pavements such as loading docks, carparks, landscape hard paving within site boundaries. It includes residential streets, paths and driveways.

0275 Segmental pavers - mortar bed

This worksection Template is applicable to external paving in stone, industrial cast stone, terrazzo and manufactured cementitious pavers on a cement mortar bed or screed to concrete substrates.

0276 Segmental pavers - sand bed

This worksection Template is applicable to the supply, placement and compaction of proprietary clay and concrete segmental paving on sand bedding for use in vehicular pavements, cycleways, footpaths and landscaped areas, over unbound base and/or subbase layer/s.

0277 Pavement ancillaries

This worksection Template is applicable to the installation of channels, kerbs, linemarking and some types of vehicle barriers.

0278 Granular surfaces

This worksection Template is applicable to the construction of granular pathways and surfaces for minor works, and includes subgrade trimming, base compaction and granular surfacing.

0281 Bushfire perimeter tracks (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection is applicable to the construction of perimeter tracks for bushfire protection in rural and urban developments for Crown or private land. It addresses requirements for constructing and maintaining tracks in a way that minimises soil erosion.

0292 Masonry walls (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection is applicable to laying of concrete, brick or stone masonry units for construction of retaining walls and free-standing walls such as noise attenuation, dwarf and feature walls for landscaping or similar structures.

0293 Crib retaining walls (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection is applicable to the construction of proprietary timber crib and precast concrete crib retaining walls, which may involve the design and construction of structures required to retain and reinforce soil, rock and other materials such as segmental concrete reinforced soil retaining walls or reinforced concrete masonry cantilever retaining walls. It consists of the excavation for foundations, construction of reinforced concrete footing, precast concrete or treated timber crib wall, selected backfill in and behind the crib wall, and subsurface drainage to the wall, as documented.

0301 Piling

This worksection Template is applicable to piled footings for building structures and includes timber, concrete/grout and steel piling aligned with AS 2159 .

0310 Concrete - combined

This worksection Template is applicable to the use of concrete for building and associated structures. It is suitable for work of a scale or size which does not warrant the use of a separate worksection for each of the different parts of the concrete work. It combines relevant clauses from the following worksections: 0311 Concrete formwork, 0312 Concrete reinforcement, 0313 Concrete post-tensioned, 0314 Concrete in situ, 0315 Concrete finishes, 0316 Precast concrete and 0317 Tilt-up concrete. For large projects, use separate worksections.

0311 Concrete formwork

This worksection Template is applicable to supply, installation and removal of formwork for concrete work in buildings and associated structures. It includes formwork using profiled sheeting and ply wood.

0311 FIELDERS KingFlor in concrete formwork

This branded worksection Template is applicable to FIELDERS KingFlor, possibly in conjunction with other formwork types or systems, for the production of formwork for concrete work in buildings and associated structures.

0312 Concrete reinforcement

This worksection Template is applicable to supply and installation of fibre and steel or reinforcement in concrete for buildings and associated structures. It includes ties, supports and dowelling.

0313 Concrete post-tensioned

This worksection Template contains technical content which must be customised by a professional engineer for inclusion in a project specification.

This worksection is applicable to bonded post tensioning of concrete using strands, bars or wires. It allows for various installations and stressing methods and equipment. This worksection may be used to completely designed structure or as a performance specification for the design and installation. It includes supply, installation, stressing and grouting or post tensioned ducts and anchorages.

0314 Concrete in situ

This worksection Template is applicable to concrete placement on site (insitu) for building and associated structures. It includes preparation of the base, concrete supply, placement, compaction, curing and jointing. This worksection is generally used in conjunction with other concrete worksections e.g. 0311 Concrete formwork. However, it can be used alone with minor additions such as simple forms for formwork.

0315 Concrete finishes

This worksection Template is applicable to the production of formed and unformed finishes to concrete surfaces in building and associated structures. It covers the common surface finishes, more project specific finishes may require to be added. This worksection should be used in conjunction with the concrete in situ worksections, in particular for curing.

0316 Precast concrete

This worksection Template is applicable to precast concrete elements cast in a manufacturing plant or factory distant from the final installation location and under quality control. Precast elements include reinforced and pre/post tensioned floors, walls, beams and columns. It includes connections, fixings and lifting accessories Precast manufacture follows advice from the Precast concrete handbook. Installation and erection procedures are in accordance with the National code of practice for precast, tilt-up and concrete elements in building construction and AS 3850 as required, for elements rotated about one edge. The worksection permits contractor design.

0317 Tilt-up concrete

This worksection Template is applicable to tilt-up (or tilt-slab) concrete vertical wall elements cast in a horizontal position at or near it's final location. It involves installation by rotation about one edge until vertical. The panels must be stabilised by bracing or temporary propping members. This worksection is aligned with AS 3850. The worksection permits contractor design.

0318 Shotcrete

This worksection Template is applicable to pre mixed (wet) concrete which is applied pneumatically and compacted dynamically under high velocity. It should be used in situations where formed in situ concrete is not appropriate.

0319 Minor concrete works (AUS-SPEC)

This worksection covers the supply and placement of concrete, including sprayed concrete, and ancillary requirements like excavation, preparation of foundations, forming up, placement of reinforcement and backfilling for work. Supplementary items covered includedrainage pits and other supplementary structures, headwalls, box culverts, box culvert base slabs, driveways, footpaths, median toppings, retaining walls, footings, paving edge strips and works of a similar nature.

0321 Monolithic stabilised earth walling

This worksection Template is applicable to earthwalling derived from traditional rammed earth walling (pise). It uses a blend of 6-10% cement with selected low clays soils containing well graded sand and aggregate. Design, specification and construction are quiet different to traditional rammed earth walling. Rammed stabilised earth blocks are also available, hence the use of 'monolithic' in the title.

0322 Mud brick walling

This worksection Template applies to walling of straw-reinforced, sun-dried earth blocks (adobe), both stabilised and unstabilised. It does not address monolithic stabilised earth walling, compressed blocks (e.g. Cinva ram) or lightly-burnt blocks.

0323 Straw bale

This worksection Template is applicable to straw bale construction principally of single and two story buildings. There is no standard for this type of construction.

0331 Brick and block construction

This worksection Template is applicable to manufactured units comprising of clay, calcium silicate or concrete and auto claved aerated concrete (AAC) used in buildings and associated structures. It includes details on mortar, reinforcement, prestressing, ties and other accessories, lintels, damp proofing and flashings.

0332 Stone masonry

This worksection Template is applicable to natural stone masonry units used in buildings and associated structures. It includes mortar/grout, lintels, wall ties, damp proof courses and flashings and stone foundations. There is currently no Australian standard for the stone masonry product. However, the design and construction is covered in AS 3700 .

0333 Stone repair

This worksection Template is applicable to the repair restoration and cleaning of existing stone masonry. It includes both natural and snthetic stone and the mortar, fixings and methods of repointing.

0334 Block construction

This worksection Template is applicable to unreinforced, reinforced and prestressed concrete blocks laid in mortar and for autoclaved, aerated concrete (AAC) units used in building and related construction. It includes mortar, wall ties, lintels, flashing and damp proof courses and bagging. It covers reinforced and prestresed blockwork.

0335 Brick construction

This worksection Template is applicable to brick masonry units manufactured from clay, calcium silicate and concrete laid in mortar, and used in building and related construction. It includes wall ties, lintels, mortar, face and cauity work, damp proof courses and flashing and bagging.

0341 Structural steel

This worksection Template is applicable to general structural steel framing in buildings, and associated structures. It includes cold formed purlins and girts used in conjunction with structural steelwork. It covers welding, bolting, surface preparation and treatment.

0341 FIELDERS purlins and girts in structural steel

This branded worksection Template is applicable to FIELDERS purlins and girts used in conjunction with structural steelwork. FIELDERS also offer bridging and fascia purlins along with accessories. FIELDERS purlins and girts are manufactured from Hi Tensile Galvanised Steel to conform with the Australian standard for cold form steel structures. They incorporate the latest computerised technology, coupled with efficiency in production.

0341 GALVASPAN® purlins and girts in structural steel

This branded worksection Template is applicable to purlins and girts made from GALVASPAN® steel used in conjunction with structural steelwork. Cold formed, galvanised purlins made from GALVASPAN® steel have minimum yield strengths around 60 per cent greater than hot rolled steel purlins. This means lighter sections can be used and fixing times can be reduced using self drilling, self tapping screws.

0342 Light steel framing

This worksection Template is applicable to framing for structures generally comprising cold formed metallic-coated or aluminium/zinc-coated steel sections where particular project specific requirements need to be met. It covers residential and low floor, wall roofing and truss framing.

0343 Tensioned membrane structures

This worksection Template is applicable to suspended tensioned membrane structures, including shade fabric cloth or waterproof membrane structures. It covers supporting structure, tension members, anchorages and foundations, both attached to other structures or stand-alone.

0462 Structural glazing

This worksection Template is applicable to the installation of the following structural glazing systems: structural silicone glazing in which the glass is adhered to the framing system with a structural sealant; framed, unframed and partly framed glass assemblies including faceted glazing, fin supported glazing, patch plate jointed suspended glazing and point fixed glazing incorporating spider type glass fittings; and suspended frameless glass assembly with wind stiffening systems.

0462 SIKA structural glazing

This branded worksection Template is applicable to the installation of the following SIKA structural glazing systems: structural silicone glazing in which the glass is adhered to the framing system with a structural sealant; framed, unframed and partly framed glass assemblies including faceted glazing, fin supported glazing, patch plate jointed suspended glazing and point fixed glazing incorporating spider type glass fittings; suspended frameless glass assembly with wind stiffening systems; and weatherproofing sealants for general glazing.

0463 Glass blockwork

This worksection Template is applicable to the following three types of fully framed glass block installation:

  • Mortar-jointed: Can can take high wind loads and is permanent, so is suited to exposed installations. Panels can be large, and are rigid - resilience under loads derives from perimeter expansion joints.
  • Fire-rated: Has the same properties as the mortar-jointed system but offers a one-hour fire rating, with limited panel size.
  • Sealant jointed: Can be used for demountable interior partitioning and smaller external windows, is resilient under load, has thinner joints (and consequently better light transmission) and avoids wet trades.
0467 Glass components

This worksection Template is applicable to glass products such as shower screens, balustrades and mirrors.

0471 Insulation and sarking membranes

This worksection Template is applicable to insulation and sarking membranes for roofs, ceilings, walls and floors. It is generally specified around AS 3999, AS/NZS 4200.1, AS/NZS 4200.2 and AS/NZS 4859.1. A sarking membrane can be used for water proofing, vapour proofing and reflective insulation separately or combined.

0572 Miscellaneous furniture

This worksection Template is applicable to loose furniture and other fixed items that are capable of retrofitting. Furniture will usually be specified as proprietary items, with particular requirements (e.g. layouts) shown on the drawings. Room-by-room furniture schedules may be included in the project specification, although NATSPEC does not offer a standard format. There is no reference standard.

0573 Extinguishers and blankets

This worksection Template is applicable to fire extinguishers and fire blankets. Products used must be on the CSIRO CMSE ActivFire Register of Fire Protection Equipment. The specification should reflect any extra requirements of local statutory authorities. The principal product standards are the AS/NZS 1841 series and AS 2444 .

0574 Window coverings

This worksection Template is applicable to window coverings both decorative and blockout comprising, curtains and blinds, manual and power operated.

0575 Tapestries

This worksection Template is applicable to wall-hung tapestries woven using the Gobelin method. It was developed with the Victorian Tapestry Workshop. There is no central standard.

0581 Signs and display

This worksection Template is applicable to cement-based toppings on floors and steps. There is no relevant standard in Australia but there are numerous guides available from BRANZ and the Cement and Concrete Association.

0613 Terrazzo in situ

This worksection Template specifies in situ cementitious terrazzo floor systems. It was originally compiled with the Australian Stone and Terrazzo Association. Particular requirements such as type of terrazzo, materials, underbeds, bonding and precast details may be shown on the drawings or incorporated in the specification. There is no relevant standard. Terrazzo is deemed to comply with the BCA requirements for fire hazard properties (see BCA C1.10 ).

0621 Waterproofing - wet areas

This worksection Template is applicable to membrane applications to wet areas and is written with reference to AS 3740 and AS/NZS 4858. Many wet area membrane systems are polyester or polyurethane. Some are bituminous. Acrylic systems are also available. Fibreglass is the usual reinforcement, where one is used.

This worksection Template is applicable to storage type water heaters and covers electric, gas, solar (with gas or electric boost) and heat pump types. It also includes small instantaneous heaters. The reference standards are the AS/NZS 3500 series which are cited in the Plumbing Code of Australia.

0814 Hydraulic pumps

This worksection Template is applicable to pumps used in hot and cold water services and stormwater. The worksection is not required if there are no pumps for hydraulic services in the project. 0821 Stormwater - buildings

0822 Wastewater

This worksection Template is applicable to sanitary plumbing (above ground) and sanitary drainage (below ground) for a range of applications including laboratories. On-site treatment is limited to septic tanks. The reference standard is AS/NZS 3500.2 which is cited in the Plumbing Code of Australia.

0823 Cold and heated water

This worksection Template is applicable to potable cold and heated (hot and warm) water services including water for human consumption, food preparation, food utensil washing and personal hygiene. 0824 Fuel gas

This worksection Template is applicable to installations for natural gas and other fuel gases such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG), tempered liquid petroleum gas (TLP) and simulated natural gas (SNG). The worksection does not cover appliances. The reference standard for this worksection is AS 5601.

0825 Rainwater storage systems

This worksection Template is applicable to rainwater tanks and ancillaries. It covers rigid plastic, bladder, coated steel and concrete tanks for above ground and underground installation.

0826 Greywater systems

1392 Trenchless conduit installations

This worksection covers the installation of any type of drainage or service conduit where it is a requirement of the contract that trenchless techiques are to be used. Trenchless techniques minimise interference with existing features, facilities or traffic. These techniques may be by either jacking, ramming, bursting thrust or auger boring, micro-tunnelling, directionl drilling or other suitable technique as appropriate for the particular installation.

1401 Technical specifications for parks and recreation areas

This worksection is applicable to rountine and minor specific maintenance. The contractor will act for the council in undertaking the activities listed in the parks and recreation areas assigned.

1411 Street landscaping

This worksection includes the inspection and maintenance of gardens, trees and hurbs in landscaped areas provided in councils' streets. These landscaped areas are located in roundabouts, islands, threholds, road closures and pedestrian plazas and are scheduled in the network descriptions of the road reserve definition information.

1412 Grass mowing in road reserves

This worksection cover slahing or mowing of roadside, shoulders, verges or median growth and those areas classified by council as grassed areas and included information provided as part of the contract documnets. This activity includes edge trimming where specified including around trees, shrubs, inspection lids, hydrants, posts, poles, under and around seats and tables.

1413 Tree and vegetation control in road reserves

This worksection includes trimming of growth on trees and shrubs and minor lopping on roads and footpaths.

1414 Weed control in road reserves

This worksection covers the spraying of herbicide or related treatment to provide a weed free surface area at the lip and joints of a kerb and gutter, traffic islands around road furniture (e.g guardfence, fences, signs and guidepost) as directed adjacent to culverts, bridge abutments and along boundary fences for which the council is responsible.

1415 Weed control

This worksection covers the spraying of herbicide or related treatment such as hand weeding and hot water or direct chemical application to provide a weed free surface area to parks and recreation areas, gardens, around park/area furniture and along boundary fences for which the council is responsible.

1416 Planting of annuals and trees

This worksection include the removal of spent annual plants, preparation of beds and planting out and watering the new annuals in garden areas provided in councils' parks and recreation areas. It also includes the planting of replacement trees in councils' parks and recreation areas.

1417 Care of trees and shrubs

This worksection will include the care of trees and shrubs and the trimming of growth on trees and shrubs in parks and recreation areas including provision of minimum clearances for both roadways and footways.

1418 Gardens

This worksection includes the inspection and maintenance of gardens, excluding annual plants, in areas provided in councils' parks and recreation areas.

1419 Care of trees and turf

This worksection covers watering, fertilising, soil aeration, thatch removal and top-dressing of parks and recreation areas.

1420 Grass mowing

This worksection covers mowing of all classifications of parks and recreation areas and those areas classified by council as grassed areas. It also includes edge trimming along footpath edges, around trees, shrubs, access chambers, hydrants, post, poles, under and around seat and tables.

1421 Native bushland

This worksection includes the inspection and maintenance of native bushland in councils' parks and recreation areas in accordance with councils' bushland management plan. The major work will be consolidation and long-term weeding following the primary weeding carried out in council's bush regeneration programme. Planting of native and indigenous species and protective fencing of sensitive areas are activities provided external to this maintenance activity.

1422 Dunal areas

This worksection covers the special maintenance acivity related to the stabilisation and preservation of areas predominated by sand dune terrain. The activity includes inspection and maintenance of board and chain walkways, fencing and plantings.

1423 Pest control

This worksection covers the spraying of pesticide or related treatment such as direct chemcial application to provide and insect/pest free surface area to parks and recreation areas, gardens, around park/area furniture and along boundary fences for which the council is responsible.

1424 Landscape - maintenance (NATSPEC)

This worksection is applicable to the maintenance of established landscape projects for the period between the date of final completion of the project under the head contract and the date of the end of the nominated maintenance contract period. Consider obtaining a price when calling tenders for maintenance to be extended beyond this period.

1431 Footpath paving repairs

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of concrete and segmental paver footpaths located in parks and recreation areas. It includes paths for shared or sole-use by bicycles. The activity includes the removal of any footpath defects which could constitute a safety hazard to park and recreation area users.

1432 Gravel footpath repairs

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of gravel footpaths located in parks recreation areas. Gr5avel paths include footpaths and shared or sole use bicycle pathways and include crushed rock, pebbles, sand or compacted gravel surfacing. This activity includes restoration of the surface quality and associated minor work provide for the ongoing functionality of the surface.

1433 Footpath and kerb ramp repairs adjacent to roadways

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of all footpaths and kerb ramps located adjacent to the carriageway. The activity includes the repair of any damaged kerb ramps and removal of any footpath defects, which could constitute a safety hazard to pedestrians.

1441 Bituminous surfacing repairs

This worksection covers the repair of pavement surfacing on footpaths, car parks or driveways by several techniques. Surfacing is defined as the wearing course only. The work may utilise hot asphalt or coldmix but shall more typically comprise bitumen emulsion sealing with fine aggregate.

1442 Boat ramps maintenance

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of recreational boat ramps located in bays, rivers or lakes, both tidal and non-tidal.

1461 Swimming enclosures maintenance

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of swimming enclosures located in bays, rivers, lakes or ocean, both tidal and non-tidal, including rock or constructed pools at coastal locations refreshed by tidal action. The activity excludes purpose built olympic pools in council parks and leisure centres.

1462 Boundary fence repair

This worksection covers the inspection of all boundary fences, gates and access points in parks and recreation areas. It includes monitoring possible future problems, i.e. intrusion by extended tree or shrub growth, and poor foundations. Replacements of fencing components to an approved work plan will be paid under the conditions of a work order.

1471 Barbecues maintenance

This worksection covers the maintenance of outdoor electrical, or liquefied petroleum (LP) gas, barbecues situated in council parks and recreation areas.

1472 Drinking fountains maintenance

This worksection covers the maintenance of drinking fountains (bubblers) located in council's parks and recreation areas.

1473 Fences, rails, racks, guards and barriers

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance, including painting, of fences, handrails, bicycle racks, vehicle barriers, tree and garden guards, and similar items to ensure that they continue to provide the function for which they were installed. It includes the containment fences at lookouts and playgrounds and containment and catch fences at sportsgrounds.

1474 Lighting maintenance

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of lighting systems, electrical or solar power, installed in public parks and recreation areas. It includes lighting for sportsgrounds, carparks and pedestrian areas.

1475 Playground equipment maintenance

This worksection covers the maintenance of playground equipment in public parks and recreation areas in accordance with the maintenance requirements of AS/NZS 4486.1.

1476 Park furniture maintenance

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of park furniture such as seats, tables, shelters, gazebos, bollards, signs, plaques in parks and recreation areas to ensure that they continue to provide the function for which they were installed.

1477 Sport ground facilities maintenance

This worksection includes the maintenance, installation and removal of equipment and apparatus required for the conduct of sports activities for each particular sportsground. Included are goal posts, goal and catch nets, track and field athletics equipment and apparatus, cricket sight screens, pitches and mats, sports linemarking and the maintenance of synthetic grass surfaces.

1481 Accident repairs (Recoverable)

This worksection covers inspection and appraisal of damage, compilation of details and reporting related to accidents where costs are recoverable.

1482 Accident repairs (Non recoverable)

This worksection covers inspection and appraisal of damage, compilation of details and reporting related to accidents or vandalism where costs are non-recoverable.

1483 Emergency call out

This worksection is a template for recording actions taken in response to an emergency call out. It provides for indicating any costs that may be recoverable in respect of public safety. Performance requirements are also set out.

1484 Storm damage response

This worksection covers short notice repairs under emergency conditions concerned with making the park or recreation area safe. It is limited to activity which could reasonably be undertaken in a 24 hour period. Work includes removal of debris, causing obstruction or damage to the adjacent property, or park/area furniture. The cause of the storm damage may be due to the action of wind, rain, flood or lightning strike. This may include the use of tree pruning contractors, cherry pickers, chainsaws, trucks and the like. It may also include provision or repairs to scours or erosion so as to make the park or recreation area safe.

1491 Open spaces litter collection

This worksection covers all park and recreation area litter collection, including removal of dead animals, and emptying of litter bins. 1501 Technical specifications for buildings and facilities

This worksection comprises of the defined maintenance activities required in the buildings and facilities generally described as routine cleaning and minor specific maintenance. The contractor will act for the council in undertaking the activities listed in the buildings and facilities assigned.

1531 Floors

This worksection covers the maintenance of floors including the internal and external horizontal structural surfaces which constitute part of the building and area accessible by users of the building. Materials may include masonry, concrete, metal, timber. Surfacing can include resilient surfaces, paint, carpet and tiles.

1532 Walls

This worksection covers the maintenance of walls, including all internal and external continuous vertical structures, separating rooms or open areas that are either load or non-load bearing. Materials may include masonry, concrete, metal, light timber framing with cladding, plasterboard, timber, steel or glass blockwork. Walls may be surfaced or finished with timber, steel, exposed masonry, resilient surfaces, wallpaper, paint and tiles.

1533 Doorways and windows

This worksection covers the maintenance of doorways including all the internal and external entry and exit structures. Doorways include timber doors, steel clad doors, timber, steel and aluminium door frames, security doors, fire resistant doors, frameless glass doors, revolving doors and overhead doors. Surfacing is either natural, painted or stained. Windows include all metal and timber windows as well as all window frames, screens and grills. Window frames may be painted, stained or anodised. Window and door furniture such as locks, hinges are included.

1534 Ceilings

This worksection covers the maintenance of ceilings including all the overhead structural surfaces either suspended or attached in the under roof area of a building or facility. Materials may include plasterboard panels, fibrous plaster tiles, mineral fibre tiles, glass fibre panels, metal louvred panels, steel panels, aluminium panels, wood fibre panels, strawboard and plywood panels. Ceilings may be surfaced in paint, resilient surfaces and wallpaper.

1535 Roofing

This worksection covers the maintenance of roofs including all the external structures and cladding that protect buildings and facilities from the weather. Materials may include tiling, fibre cement shingles, timber shingle and shale roofing, sheet metal, copper, concrete, plastic sheet, glazed roofing, suspended fabric. Roofs may be surfaced with resilient surfaces, paint or anodised. Roofing also includes guttering and all rain water goods.

1571 Mechanical systems

This worksection covers the maintenance of mechanical systems including all the fittings, structures, units, installations for use in association with mechanical operations in a building or facility. Mechanical systems include chillers, water heating boilers, cooling towers, fans, pumps, air coils, tanks and vessels, packaged equipment, refrigeration ductwork and mechanical piping, mechanical insulation and equipment for water treatment and for liquid fuel storage and reticulation.

1572 Hydraulic systems

This worksection covers the maintenance of hydraulic systems including all the fittings, pipes, sanitary fixtures, installations for use and conveyance of water, wastewater, fuel or gas. Hydraulic Systems include stormwater, wastewater, freshwater, irrigation and fuel or gas systems as well as hydrants, hose reels and sprinklers.

1573 Electrical systems

This worksection covers the maintenance of electrical systems including all the fittings, wiring, installations for use in association with power and lighting in a facility. Includes systems for domestic installations, generating sets, uninterruptible power supply, switchboards, wiring or accessories, luminaires, emergency evacuation lighting, telecommunications cabling, master antenna television, lightning protection, fire detection and alarms, emergency warning and intercommunications as well as electronic security.

1581 External building surveillance

This worksection covers the maintenance of the external security of council buildings and secured areas by way of monitoring of intruder alarm systems from a central control facility and the provision of mobile security patrols to the buildings and secured areas as designated.

1582 Accident repairs management (Recoverable)

This worksection covers the inspection and appraisal of damage, compilation of details and reporting related to accidents where costs are recoverable. The Contractor shall liaise with the police or public to obtain details of persons responsible, vehicles/drivers and take photos of damage when required. Where vehicles are involved, the contractor shall note the registration Nos, vehicle make and model, driver's name, address and license No. A report on the value and nature of building/facility asset damage shall be prepared. This activity does not include repair work.

1583 Emergency call out

This worksection covers the provision of an effective service which is readily contactable 24 hrs a day, year round and which the public or others may call for assistance. The contractor is required to make a record, or diary of calls and details and to liaise and direct urgent action, by way of inspection and appraisal.

1584 Storm damage response

This worksection covers short notice repairs under emergency conditions concerned with making the building or facility safe and is limited to activity which could reasonably be undertaken in a 24 hour period. Work includes removal of debris causing obstruction or damage to the adjacent property, and provision of temporary roofing with tarps. The cause of the storm damage may be due to the action of wind, rain, flood or lightning strike. This may include the use of tree lopping contractors, cherry pickers, chainsaws, trucks, and the like.

1585 External cleaning

This worksection includes all procedures necessary for the routine cleaning of the external surfaces of buildings, covered areas immediately adjacent to buildings and external stairways. This activity covers all required activities such as cleaning walls, paths, signs, graffiti removal and clearing gutters.

1586 Internal cleaning

This worksection includes all procedures necessary for the routine cleaning of buildings including offices, foyers, meeting rooms, kitchens, hallways. It excludes toilets covered in 1587 Sanitary cleaning. This activity covers all required activities such as carpet and upholstery cleaning, dusting and polishing furniture, emptying waste bins and ash trays, cleaning walls and doors and replacing light bulbs and tubes. Area covered by this activity includes all internal areas and covered foyers and alcove areas immediately outside external access doors.

1587 Sanitary cleaning

This worksection covers all procedures necessary for the routine cleaning of sanitary facilities designated for public or staff use located in a separate building or within buildings and facilities. This activity covers all required activities such as the cleaning of toilets and hand basins in addition to all related surface cleaning commonly required for the upkeep of such premises. Building and facility cleaning not directly related to sanitary facilities is covered under other activity specifications. Provision has been made within this specification for the routine replenishment of consumable supplies required to meet to the requirements of this activity such as hand towels, soap, toilet paper, sanitary napkins and light bulbs.

1588 Windows cleaning

This worksection includes all procedures necessary for the routine cleaning of the internal and external surfaces of perimeter windows and both sides of all internal windows, glass partitions and glass panels.

1589 Cleaning - blinds and fire proofing of curtains

This worksection includes all procedures necessary for the routine cleaning of blinds and curtains as well as the fire proofing of curtains.

1601 Technical specifications for road reserves

The worksection comprises of the defined maintenance activities required on the road network as shown in Annexure A. The area of responsibility is depicted within the road reserve definition information which indicates areas of road reserve or other specific assets which are incorporated in the work and any other special responsibilities. The work generally comprises the activities that are listed for inclusion in the maintenance management plan and is described as routine and minor specific maintenance. The contractor will act for the council in undertaking the activities listed in the road network assigned. The work includes activities associated with the maintenance of the wearing surface of bridges, bridge and culvert waterways and other drainage features.

1611 Pavement sweeping

This worksection covers the removal of loose material from the road surface by hand brooming, mechanical rotary brooming, suction brooming, or drag brooming of road surfaces. This includes sweeping at intersections, median kerbs, median openings median islands and within bicycle lanes. The activity also includes the removal of any slippery substance from the road surface.

1612 Auxiliary work for reseals

This worksection covers preparatory, support and post seal operations where the contractor is required to provide resources to assist the resealing contractor appointed by council to provide resealing services. The reseal operation will be programmed by the council and advised to the contractor. This activity is additional to normal routine maintenance undertaken during the course of the contract.

1613 Repairs to bituminous surfacing

This worksection covers the repair of pavement surfacing by several techniques. Surfacing is defined as the wearing course only. The work may utilise hot asphalt or coldmix but shall more typically comprise bitumen emulsion sealing with fine aggregate. Work may also include the spreading of grit on surfaces exhibiting soft and excess amounts of bitumen. The work shall include provision of temporary linemarking where necessary.

1614 Crack sealing

This worksection covers the cleaning and filling of cracks or joints in pavements to make the surface water resistant. This type of work is usually undertaken on concrete, asphalt or bitumen sealed surfaces. It includes temporary reinstatement of line marking where necessary. Crocodile cracking with no deformation or pumping of fines on asphaltic concrete pavements is excluded from this activity except where the distress is very localised and readily treated.

1615 Local shape correction

This worksection covers the local correction of ruts, shoving, depressions, or abnormal crossfall by application of coldmix, asphalt or emulsion and fine aggregate seals. More extensive works will be treated as major works at the principal's discretion.

1616 Grading unsealed roads

This worksection includes the grading of unsealed road formations including table drains, whether the surfacing comprises imported granular material or the natural subgrade. The activity includes rolling after grading and the inclusion of water if this is deemed necessary.

1617 Resheeting unsealed roads

This worksection covers the provision of imported granular overlay material on unsealed roads and the grading and compaction of this material as a resheet. The activity includes preparatory grading of the formation including table drains.

1618 Heavy patching

This worksection covers the repair of major pavement failures. Major failures comprise areas greater than 25 sq m. Heavy patching is defined independently of the depth of repair. Typically the pavement is deformed and/or cracked due to poor construction or a weak subgrade or pavement layer, often due to water ingress.

1619 Minor patching

This worksection covers the repair of minor pavement failures. Minor failures comprise areas greater than 1.0 m² and less than 25 m². Minor patching is defined independently of the depth of repair. Typically the pavement is deformed and/or cracked due to poor construction or a weak subgrade or pavement layer, often associated with water ingress.

1620 Pothole repair

This worksection covers the reinstatement of sealed surface faults using either base course granular material or bituminous materials. Surface faults under this category are less than or equal to 1 m2 and will require infill material to reinstate the sealed or asphalt surface rather than just a surface dressing.

1621 Concrete pavement repairs

This worksection covers the repair of concrete pavements, with or without an asphalt overlay, which have failed due to poor construction or a weak subgrade, often due to water ingress. The activity also includes permanent restoration of service openings.

1622 Concrete slab stabilisation

This worksection covers the stabilisation of concrete road slabs that have tilted, have become loose, and have scoured underneath such that voids have formed where the slab foundation has been eroded. The work involves replacing the foundation with cementitious grout or other approved grout pumped under pressure to re-stabilise the slab.

1623 Emergency pavement repairs

This worksection covers short notice pavement repairs required for safety reasons. The work may be temporary if circumstances require. The use of this code is reserved for emergencies that involve damage to the pavement e.g. major pothole, collapsed culvert, burst water main, slippery surfacing or flushing surfacing.

1631 Edge break repair

This worksection covers the repair of broken edges of seal or asphalt surfaced pavements. The repair aims to restore the line and level of the original surfacing.

1632 Grading unsealed shoulders

This worksection covers the grading of unsealed shoulders including table drains. The activity includes rolling after grading and the inclusion of water if this is deemed necessary.

1633 Resheeting unsealed shoulders

This worksection covers the provision of imported granular overlay material on unsealed shoulders and the grading and compaction of this material as a resheet. The activity includes preparatory grading of the shoulder and table drains.

1634 Local scour repair

This worksection covers the repair of scouring on batters, shoulders and drains and/or scouring adjacent to inlets or outlets to drainage structures draining the road area. The work includes action to reinstate the area affected and to prevent re-occurrence of the scour.

1641 Kerb and channel (gutter) repairs

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of all kerb and gutters located adjacent to the carriageway. The activity includes the repair of any damaged kerb and guttering which could constitute a safety hazard to road users and pedestrians.

1642 Traffic islands

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of all concrete kerbed islands located on the carriageway and including those with hard or paved infill areas. The activity includes the repair of any damaged kerbing and the removal of any defects which could constitute a safety hazard to road users and pedestrians.

1651 Clear road reserve subsoil drains

This worksection covers maintenance of subsoil drains. These are often located behind kerbs, within pipe trenches or other locations marked on road plans. It will be required to record inspections and locations of outlets.

1652 Clear road reserve open drains

This worksection covers all unlined open drains, catch drains, spoon drains, table drains and waterways that contribute to the structural integrity of the roadway.

1671 Road reserve boundary fence repairs

This worksection covers the inspection of all fence and access points on the road reserve network.

1672 Road reserve fences and handrails

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance, including painting, of median and pedestrian fences and handrails to ensure that the fences and handrails continue to provide the function for which they were installed.

1673 Street seats and bus shelters

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of street seats and bus shelters to ensure that they continue to provide the function for which they were installed.

1674 Carriageway delineators

This worksection includes the inspection and maintenance of all types of delineators. These include guideposts, guidepost delineators, safety/rumble bars, raised pavement markers both reflective and non reflective, flaps and guardfence delineators as well as width markers on bridges and culverts.

1675 Roadway guard fence

This worksection includes the inspection and maintenance of W Beam guardfence. The work will include the inspection, reporting, scheduling and supervising all guardfence repairs. Periodic inspection is required to check alignment, and anchorage and stability of posts. Work shall include the removal and replacement of sections.

1676 Road reserve regulatory, warning and standard signs

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of regulatory, warning and standard signs as defined in AS 1742 such as speed limit, advisory speed signs, alignment, and directional hazard indicators. Maintenance of sign supports is included. The maintenance of signs denoting council maintenance segments is included.

1677 Road reserve guide signs

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance of street name, advanced direction and directional signs as well as reassurance signs, and other specialised and tourist signs. This activity does not include advance direction and direction signs which refer to an intersection or junction within the contract network but which are positioned on roads or highways not maintained by the council.

This worksection covers all road and roadside litter collection, including removal of dead animals, and emptying of litter bins at designated locations. It includes the proper disposal of the litter clear of the road reserve and the provision of plastic bag liners to all litter bins.

1692 Removal of graffiti visible from roads

1701 Wharves and decks maintenance

This worksection covers the inspection and maintenance, including painting/oiling, of wharves and decks, including jetties, fishing and viewing decks, boardwalks, mangrove walkways, lookouts and similar structures to ensure that they continue to provide the function for which they were installed. It includes structures that are situated in water or on land.

1841 Water supply - irrigation systems

This worksection covers the maintenance of irrigation systems equipment in public parks, sportsgrounds, gardens and recreation areas.

1851 Clear open space and drains

This worksection covers all unlined open drains, catch drains, spoon drains, table drains and waterways in parks and recreation areas. Low flow channels, table drains and catch drains, if grassed are to be mowed during the mowing program. Table drains are to be graded as required to remove obstructions. Watercourses may require maintenance to remove or control silt or scour.

1852 Clear open space drainage culverts

This worksection covers the clearing of all stormwater drainage structures whether located in the road network, in public car parking areas, drainage easements or parks. These include all types, such as extended kerb inlets with or without grate, side entry pits and gully pits, connections from inlets to the main drain, culverts and energy dissipators as well as bridge drainage scuppers and bridge expansion joints.

1853 Clear roadway culverts and pits

This worksection covers the clearing of all stormwater drainage structures located in parks or recreation areas including the public car parking areas. These include all types, such as extended kerb inlets with or without grate, side entry pits and gully pits, connections from inlets to the main drain, culverts and energy dissipators.

1854 Minor repair of road reserve lined drains

This worksection covers the repair and maintenance of all lined drains. These include concrete, stone pitched drains, drains permanently protected by geotextile or similar material and drains lined with galvanized corrugated iron units. Work includes repair of scour or subsidence as well as the clearing of siltation or vegetation effecting the efficiency of the drain.

1881 Beach cleaning

This activity includes raking and sieving of beaches by mechanical means and by manual cleaning where areas are not accessible by mechanical cleaning equipment. The activity also includes the disposal of the collected debris either by recycling or legal tipping.
